Rep. Kendall Van Dyk has just announced his intention to challenge incumbent Senator Roy Brown in district 25. This was known all the way back to the last session, but Van Dyk formally announced yesterday.
I'm not going to make a prediction on the outcome, but I will say that this will be the most expensive state senate race ever. Both Van Dyk and Brown have already done fundraisers around the state, and Van Dyk has even done one in Washington, DC. Both are good campaigners as well. The outcome will depend on hard work and the electorate's mood on state and national issues like health care, cap & trade, the federal deficit, the state budget, and more.
This will be an interesting race to watch. Who do you think will win the race between "Big Oil Roy" and "Tax Hike Van Dyk"?
My prediction is that it will be a landlslide in favor of the honorable and faithful public servant Roy Brown. He comes to this election with a wealth of experience in the legislature and as an independent successful businessman. He is a very devout family man. And for all your information, he is not "Bil Oil Roy". He in fact did participate in a fledgling bit of oil production over twenty years ago. But sold the property to move back to his home of Billings. He is well educated and well like around the community. He is a fair politician always looking for a way to lower taxes for the public.
I know that Kendal Van Dyke is a young aspiring liberal politician. His only claim to fame in business life is as a trained environmentalist obstructionist. He knows not how to make a business successful and that worries me. His actions in Helena to this date is to tax tax tax any chance he can. This fragile economy cannot afford any more tax and control crazed liberals in the government. We need people to limit government spending and add to Montanans chance to enjoy prosperity and liberties. Sorry Van Dyke is not this man.

I concur with Eric. Senator Roy Brown has served this community and the State of Montana as a well and able servant. He brings experience, humilty and a sincere sense of concern to his service in the legislature.
He also understands what it means to run a business, and to live under the laws he is helping to craft.
Mr. Van Dyke has made a career of being a politician, never holding a position in the private sector to get a true understanding of the reprecussions his legislative decisions have on the community.
Senator Brown has my support and I look forward to a full throated push to ensure we send him back to Helena in November and giving Mr. Van Dyke an opportunity to learn what it means to hold a real job in a difficult economy.
